A Belgian family company that has been going upstream since 1923. Formerly known as CPS Processing — reborn as Europe's only on-demand salmon specialist, built around a belief the industry wasn't ready for: nothing made for stock, everything made because someone asked for it.
The Salmon Atelier is a Belgian, family-owned salmon specialist. They source North Atlantic salmon and build every order from scratch — cut, portioned, trimmed, kitchen-ready — exclusively on demand. Not from stock. Not from a forecast made six weeks ago. From raw to ready, because someone asked for it.
The company has been running since 1923, generation after generation choosing the less logical path when the industry took the easy one. That heritage is not a marketing line. It is the reason the operation works the way it does. Serious buyers — retailers and foodservice operators — keep them to themselves. That is the strongest signal they have.
CPS Processing had built something genuinely distinctive over a century of operation, but the brand didn't say any of it. The name was operational, not market-facing. The story wasn't told. And as they moved toward a new phase — an important industry event in Maastricht on the horizon, packaging to follow — they needed a brand that could hold the ambition.
They asked us to build from the ground up: name, positioning, the full brand architecture. Not a refresh. A transformation from a processing company into a brand that carries everything they've earned over a hundred years — and earns new trust the moment someone encounters it for the first time.
"We believe in a world where food is only made because someone asked for it."
Through the COBRA™ sprints we worked through everything: a strategic deep dive into the B2B salmon market, competitive analysis, persona and power group research, brand religion (purpose, vision, mission, values), brand identity, tone of voice, and the full messaging framework. Everything grounding in one positioning that no competitor can claim: the only on-demand salmon specialist in Europe.
The name The Salmon Atelier says it all without saying too much. "The" claims uniqueness. "Salmon" is precision over vagueness — niching builds trust. "Atelier" means craftsmanship, not industry. Passion for the product, not a factory line.
The heritage line Going upstream since 1923 does the rest. Salmon don't take the easy route. Neither do they.
"Our intention was to finally be able to explain clearly who we are and what we do. The Brand Guys have exceeded that expectation by far. We now have a brand that truly stands out — and everything is crystal clear."
